Hear what our guests say
Benjamin nonchalantly tells the best stories and Mirthe her warm hostess skills adaptable flexibly to the various passengers, our daughters, a Spanish tourist with Amsterdam lover and the 65+ group of friends; a suitable approach for everyone; very kind.
Was a cozy not too big boat. Good and enthusiastic explanation by the skipper! Was a pleasant and welcoming team. Our teenage children liked it! Gluh wine, hot chocolate, Christmas cake. Pillows and blankets to keep warm: was very good to do. Tied well with the wintry weather.
“We had a very nice evening, great fun service and cozy coming in with a nice drink …
There was good talk about Amsterdam and the art …
Totally top again next year.
Highlights of a boat trip in Amsterdam
Science center NEMO (Oosterdok 2)
Science Centre NEMO is not only grand on the inside, the outside also makes it one of the most impressive buildings around the Central Station. The NEMO was built on the fundamentals of the IJ tunnel and was designed by the Italian Renzo Pianovan. The copper green building is located on the Oosterdok and is certainly worth the trouble of travelling past by boat.
The Scheepvaartmuseum (Kattenburgerplein 1)
The Amsterdam Scheepvaartmuseum on the Kattenburgerplein contains the second largest maritime collection in the world and is, of course, surrounded by water. The monumental building from 1656 can indeed be viewed in all its grandeur from the boat. Besides the imposing building, there is a replica of the VOC ship Amsterdam that you can view from the inside when visiting the museum and that also provides an impressive image from the water.
The Magere Brug (Kerkstraat/Nieuwe Kerkstraat)
Amsterdam has about 1500 bridges, of which The Magere Brug is the most famous, without doubt. The bridge is located at the level of the Kerkstraat/Nieuwe Kerkstraat, between the Keizersgracht and the Prinsengracht. If you are travelling by boat across the Amstel in the area or direction of The Magere Brug, you can simultaneously appreciate Royal Theatre Carré and museum Hermitage Amsterdam .
The Canal Belt (Central-Amsterdam)
Renting a dinghy in Amsterdam and skipping the seventeenth-century canal belt is unthinkable. The canal belt, that has been added to the World Heritage List since 2010, is the highlight for many tourists who visit Amsterdam. And rightfully so. Countless small little canals alongside the historic inner-city, The Westerkerk, The Anne Frank House, The Gouden Bocht, etc. The canal belt is an inexhaustible source of history, cosiness and architecture; you keep discovering interesting spots.
The IJ connects the inner-city of Amsterdam and North Amsterdam. Boating across the IJ you can behold the EYE museum with its beautiful shapes (1 IJpromenade) and view the Central Station from a different perspective, amongst others. Once every five years, the IJ is the highlight of SAIL Amsterdam; historic Tall Ships and countless boats and dinghies cover the IJ for several days. The last edition of SAIL Amsterdam was in 2015. The next edition will take place in 202.
